Army Medical Re-engineering Initiative Began (1993)

About AMEDD - AMEDD Innovations Since Desert Storm

The Medical Re-engineering Initiative is the Army Medical Department's Transformation effort, affecting both the Active and Reserve components. It involves restructuring medical units to move medical care as far forward as possible on the battlefield, making deployable units more flexible and adaptable, and standardizing fixed-hospital staffing and equipment.

Goals of the re-engineering effort include enhancing split-based capability, improving tactical mobility, reducing the medical footprint, improving communications and exploiting technology, all without causing structural growth.
